Soundbars are getting more popular and is the fastest growing speaker category in all of consumer electronics and home theater. Joining the bandwagon is Paradigm, a Canadian brand known in the industry for offering speakers that deliver excellent value for money.
It has recently launched the Shift Soundtrack Soundbar aimed at those who want ease of use but won’t compromise on sound quality. At $799 it is not cheap for a stereo soundbar. This 2.1 stereo system comes with a slim wireless subwoofer which makes it very flexible in terms of where you want to place the subwoofer. The clever dual ported design allows for placement under a sofa, table or even in your AV cabinet, although this is not recommended because it induces vibrational distortion to source components. The sub’s Class-D amplifier delivers 100 watts RMS Sustained and 300 watts Dynamic Peak power. If you prefer to run wires to the subwoofer, analog outputs are included.
The main sound bar unit itself is taller than usual, allowing for bigger drivers. The six drivers (two 4.5-inch drivers, 2 passive 4-inch drivers and dual one inch dome tweeters) in the sound bar delivers a full mids and musical highs that sound equally well with music as it is with movies and TV. It would be wise to ensure you’ll have enough clearance below your flat screen TV before making the purchase.
Connectivity wise it has ample options with choices of a single optical digital, stereo and 3.5mm analogue.
