LG expanded its line of soundbars at the CES 2015 early this year with the addition of a powerful 700W 7.1-channel soundbar – the LG LAS950M.
The LAS950M is the company’s flagship sound bar product for 2015 and comes with a 175W wireless subwoofer. While it isn’t the thinnest soundbar around, it comes with great connectivity options that are synonymous with only high-end soundbars – 3 HDMI inputs and a single HDMI output.
This LG soundbar also comes with built-in dual-band Wi-Fi and built-in Google™Cast. Used together with the free Music Flow Player app, it provides a nice little hub for all your music streaming apps and local playlists. If you have other LG speakers with Music Flow technology, Music Flow ties all of the speakers together so your audio streams come out from all speakers. Think multi-room playback.
If you don’t have a multi-audio system and sound bar yet, the LG LAS950M could serve as a building block for a most powerful and versatile wireless sound system.
However, if your budget doesn’t permit and you’re not an audiophile, consider the 360W 4.1-Channel LG LAS751M that also features some of the latest technology available on the LAS950M but costs half as much with some compromise to sound quality. Another great alternative is the slim, midrange LG LAS851M. While the LG LAS851M soundbar unit is similar to the LAS751M, the 160-watt wireless subwoofer that comes with the LG LAS851M is different and less powerful at least on paper. The subwoofer bundled with the LAS751M is 200 watts and is smaller and 6 pounds lighter.
All three models are fitted with LG’s proprietary Music Flow technology.
