In the consumer electronics world, LG wasn’t really a company that stood out until it started raising the bar in making cutting-edge TVs and powering them with a fancy operating system called webOS. Thanks to their strong TV momentum, LG can be a bit more aggressive in promoting other living room components like speaker systems. Many consumers use the TV as a basis for all other home theater products just so the setup is as easy as possible and everything matches. Making everything match is important if you want to take advantage of any proprietary ecosystem features. Even entry-level products like the LG LAS350B come with a couple of unique features.

About the LG LAS350B
The LAS350B is an entry-level LG sound bar with a ridiculously cheap $150 price. Opting for the step-up model means paying almost double the price of the LG LAS350B. What makes this sound bar so cheap is the included wired subwoofer. All other LG sound bar bundles can connect to the included subwoofer wirelessly. But if you are completely fine with positioning the subwoofer close to your sound bar, the wireless capability is far less important. The sound bar unit has a fairly low profile but if you prefer mounting it to the wall, you can use the included wall mount.
One of the other things you’ll sacrifice by going for a sound bar this cheap is the lack of HDMI ports. With only one 3.5mm audio input and a digital optical input, the LAS350B is as barebones of a sound bar as you can get. That’s fine because it makes the sound bar even easier to set up and modern TVs still have a digital optical input. A digital optical cable is included in the package. The LG LAS350B has a USB port as well but it is only used for servicing.
LG made the right move by not cutting out Bluetooth from any of its entry-level sound bars including the LAS350B. This eliminates the need to buy a separate Bluetooth or other wireless speaker. Regardless of the mobile platform or app, virtually any device with Bluetooth and capable of playing back audio can stream to the LG LAS350B within visible range.
If you have a supported LG TV with built-in Bluetooth, you can also use the Sound Sync Wireless technology to pair the LAS350B with the TV. This arrangement saves you a digital optical cable and makes your home theater setup even more minimal. Since this sound bar doesn’t offer too many features on its own, it is best to get this sound bar if you have an LG TV.
The LG LAS350B is also the least powerful sound bar in the company’s 2015 sound bar lineup. The main unit contains two 25-watt tweeters. Add the 70-watt wired subwoofer and you have a total of 120 watts of power. By comparison, the LG LAS551H which costs almost twice as much boasts 320 watts. The audio quality difference between the two sound bars is noticeable but if you have been listening to your built-in TV speakers for far too long, you will find the LAS350B to be a refreshing improvement. Music quality over Bluetooth is average since it lacks the aptX codec. There are a number of preset modes to choose from and you can adjust the subwoofer’s bass but don’t expect too much detail.
• Very simple to set up.
• Very cheap.
• Wireless pairing with LG TVs is a nice bonus.
• Average bass.
• You don’t get your money’s worth if you don’t have an LG TV.
It is hard to hate a sound bar that costs $150 and still manages to improve the TV’s audio quality by a very noticeable margin. The LG LAS350B falls in that category and is a must-buy if you are on a tight budget and have a Bluetooth-enabled LG TV.
