While you think sound bars are a ‘straight forward’ affair, the folks at Panasonic have some other ideas. Instead of just a longitudinal speaker box they have come up something rather innovative – a speaker unit that can be split into two!
The latest Panasonic SC-HTB370 and SC-HTB770 have detachable speaker systems that can be arranged horizontally, vertically, wall-mounted or free standing. They are great if you have a large TV. The HTB370 is a 2.1 system while the HTB770 is a 3.1 system with a dedicated center channel. The accompanying subwoofer is wireless, making for a very clean setup, connection-wise. They are also Bluetooth enabled allowing you to stream music from your smartphones.
Dialog is the most important part in a movie. Get that right and the movie experience go up a notch. Panasonic’s Dialog Level Control delivers richer, more nuanced audio, making voices sound as if they’re coming directly from the center of your screen. Together with its versatile detachable speaker feature these new sound bars offer a great and unique selling proposition for Panasonic in the crowded sound bar segment.
The Panasonic SC-HTB370 retails for $299.99 and it comes in Black or Silver while the larger SC-HTB770 lists for $399.99. These are well worth a look if you are looking for a mid-priced soundbar solution for your flat screen TV.
